Actually, I did have a look at it (although I had to find it on your website since the link was broken). Unfortunately, it didn't fit the requirements anymore. (You are mentioned in a source comment though.)

I can't really tell a difference between the two. Except that they aren't digging at the same time. Looks really good tho in my opinion.

I think the top one works better. The head movement on the bottom one seems to large for a sprite of that size.

You might try making the end of the shovel only one pixel high at the top of his stroke. Right now, since it's changing size there, it looks a little strange.
